Life is so crazy, I’m trying to get some what caught up on my blog posting… Wish me luck! LOL Anyways, I figured I should start some where, so why not with this adorable family! I love love love the outfits they chose, coordinating but not identically matching… and the colors! Perfect! Shannon wanted to use these for Gracie’s birthday invites and instead of Happy Birthday, Gracie says “Happy to you”! LOL So these are Gracie’s Happy to you pictures!! Love it!

“Today you are you and that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you” – Dr.Suess.
I think that this is one of my favorite Dr.Suess quotes!! Am I the only person who thinks this man was a genius? Not only did he write tons of wonderful books that will be loved by people throughout history, but he gave good solid wisdom that we as adults can and should apply to our lives!
I think that the world of photography is growing bigger than anyone could have ever imagined, I mean really who doesn’t want to turn something that they love to do as a hobby into money making business. But in order to do that you have to be able to set yourself apart, not only the way you take and edit your images, but you need have a solid brand or identity to your business that is “YOU”. I feel like every other day I am in the mood to change something about the way my blog looks, or my business cards.. I have a bit of a collectic personality and so I love multiple styles, colors and things. I found out early, that this is not logical.. LOL I mean if I’m wasting all my time changing my blog style, that’s less time editing and if I’m spending all my money having my business cards re-printed every other week, obviously that’s less profit. So it’s really important to find a style you love, something that suites you and stick with it. Yes, every now and again some rebranding and little facelift is a good thing for your business, but all in moderation.
I happened to go to school for graphic design and was able to make all of my own branding material for my business ( once I found a theme and stuck with it of course). I know that trying to find that perfect set or specific item for your business can be a challenge and so I decided to help out any one that was interested in having a personalized logo made or even just branding material to go with your logo. Here is a small set that I made for a fellow photographer, Logo and all!

I’m a firm believer that each and every one of us is driven by passion. Some, stronger than others, but passion none the less. When I am holding my camera in my hands, looking through that veiw finder, pacing my breathing, finding that right composition and killer light, my passion is BURNING! It’s who I am, I live breathe, sleep and think photography, constantly, 24/7. Because of that, I am finding that owning your own business is as much of a blessing as it is a curse. There’s no escaping it(work) and if you’re not careful that same passion that drives you to greatness will burn you out. We live in a time where we take our phones with us everywhere we go, and our phones do everything! This means no breaks, no vacays and honestly it’s not always a good thing. I’m not going to lie, I was the first person to flip a lid and have a major meltdown when I busted my “smartphone” and had to be without it for a day and a half. But guess what, I survived! Now before I get off on a rabbit trail here, I’m ging to make my point. I was talking to a dear friend of mine (if you are reading this, you know who you are;) and we were talking about photography and how you can LOVE it so much but at the same time it can also be SO demanding. She told me to make myself a personal project. At first, I thought “why?’ But now I undersand. It’s one thing to do something because you have to or you are needed, but it’s completely another to do something because you want to and you love it. Sometimes in photography, you get caught in the middle. But by evening it out and doing something that I want to do, it’s not only a creative outlet, but it’s a break, a vacation a fresh start and an awesome oppertunity to try new techniques, one that you maybe don’t want to use you’re clients as guinea pigs for. LOL So that’s what I did, I made myself a personal project. I have always had a fascination with guitars, I don’t play but I’ve always thought that they were beautiful. Since I’m a country gal, they kind of have that country image to them, I knew it had to be something with a guitar. Next I LOVE the sun just before it sets. There is something about it that just soothes my souls. So the setting sun was a MUST! I also am a horse gal, believe it or not, these guys were a special bonus to out little adventure. I got together with Rachael and we talked about my vision for this shoot and she just absolutley got it, 100%!! She did her own hair and makeup, picked out the outfit and brought the guitar! Can you say lifesaver!
I absolutely adore this girl, she was so much fun, relaxed, and just plain GORGEOUS. I had so much fun and I am absolutley in love with the way that they turned out!! Even better than I had imagined them in my mind. I would like to point out that the horse is actually licking her hand in one of the pictures and nibbling her in a few others. He was a friendly guy, and appearently thought Rachael tasted yummy!
I got slobbered on a bit too.. My horse, Lucy was not pleased to find out that I had been fraternizing with a strange horse. LOL Enjoy and please leave this gorgeous gal some love!![]()
